2018 Palaka Awards Celebration

The Rotary Club of Kahului presents the Mike H. Lyons II Memorial Scholarship Fund 2018 Palaka Awards Celebration & Golf Ball Drop!

Mike Lyons, for whom the fund and the Palaka Award are named, was the epitome of a Rotarian and a prominent figure in the Maui community. He served as President of the Rotary Club of Kahului and as Governor of Rotary District 5000. Mike passed away on March 26, 2004, but his legacy will impact our community for generations to come, thanks in part to your support of our Scholarship Program.

Created in honor of Mike Lyons’ tireless community support, the Rotary Club of Kahului’s annual Palaka Award distinguishes outstanding long-term volunteer service to nonprofit organizations on Maui. Named for the signature palaka shirts Mike wore, the award is Maui’s highest service recognition and pays tribute to community members who demonstrate their commitment to helping others by volunteering their time, talent and treasure to create positive change and stronger communities on Maui.

This year, we are thrilled to be honoring Hoaloha Na Eha, Ltd. for their philanthropy service to our community. Hoaloha Na Eha, Ltd is comprised of owners Michael Moore, Robert Aguiar, and Tim Moore.

We are also thrilled to be honoring Mahina Martin for her tremendous and tireless community service!

Net proceeds directly fund the Rotary Club of Kahului’s Michael H. Lyons II Scholarship Program, providing college scholarships for exceptional Maui youth. We invite you to invest in Maui’s future generation of community and business leaders by joining us and supporting this event. Many of our scholarship winners intend to return to Maui, educated and experienced in the fields of health care, education, business, agriculture, and more.

Come celebrate Maui’s top Community Contributors as we recognize Hoaloha Na Eha, Ltd. and Mahina Martin at our Palaka Awards Celebration with cocktails and pupus and witness the spectacle of our Golf Ball Drop on
